Not sure if I mentioned that it's been raining a lot so far. Today was stormy almost all the way through. After driving yesterday in the rain I had no desire to repeat that even on a short journey.
The hostel has food on site and it all looked pretty tasty. As I knew I would be having breakfast, lunch & dinner today, I opted for the berry smoothie. About time I had something healthy.
This day had been earmarked for hitting the beach and the pool of playing volleyball down by the lagoon. As none of that was possible, I spent the day on the very comfy bed catching up on Arrow. This was only interrupted by a starter portion of some extremely tasty fried chicken at the brewery.
I had a second shower of the day before going into town for the evening. Timing wise this worked out very well as the sun popped it's head out for 20minutes.
By the time I reached town I was pretty hot. Leaving me only to imagine what could have been. After another explore I came to the Balcony Bar where I would have dinner later on to scope it out, & yes have a happy hour glass of wine.
After a quick walk to the sea front I headed back into town just before the rain started. At Main Street I sat on the street with another wine.
I popped back to the Sticky Wicket for happy hour. 10 chicken wings and some beers. The Crusaders were playing the chiefs in Christchurch & I would have watched that game had it not been for a mixed table of lads who I joined.
Ireland, Canada, & Australia were represented. The Australian lad was over from Adelaide and had previously lived in Newcastle while working for Swan Hunter.
I decided against dinner at the Balcony as it seemed daft on my own. Instead I opted for a cool Taco establishment tucked away in a shopping area. Song was able to eat outdoors and avoid the rain. There was to be no avoiding it on the way back, but fortunately I walked past the hostel shuttle bus that took me back, for another early night, home by 20:45.
