I stared the day with a 5K run round the track next to the house. Followed by a spell on the outdoor gym equipment. I returned to find Snook had made breakfast. Potatoes, eggs & sausages. We set off to county Mayo for today's adventure, climbing a Croagh Patrick. This 732metre mountain is often climbed by pilgrims barefoot. I can't imagine having to do that as I soon discovered large section of the climb are just loose stones. The climb was exhausting, at times having to scramble on all fours. The final section & almost vertical ascent to the summit was my undoing. As I headed up the loose rocks, my vertigo kicked in & I realised that even if I made it up. There would be no way I could get down. I had made it within 5minutes of the summit before turning back. My return down the mountain took so long that the guys arrived at the bottom moments after I had done.
We headed to the nearby town of Westport for dinner & Guinness. As we were all in need of sustenance the dinner didn't disappoint.
Quick fire showers when we got home meant that we headed into town at 11, to chilled late night bar over two floors. At this point the days exercise was taking its toll on everyone, but we still managed to walk home.
