So Hanoi was our last stop in Vietnam. We'd been on a bus for a while and unfortunately for Hannah the taxi ride to our hotel was quite a bit longer than expected too. To cut a long story short an emergency toilet stop was necessary! This was made extremely difficult by the fact that we had no idea where the nearest toilet was and our taxi driver didn't speak any English so had no clue as to why we'd made him stop! Not good at all when you're about to poop your pants! At least it wasn't me this time for a change, ha! Luckily I had an app on my phone with some very useful phrases on which saved me from having to mime what I was asking for! Our driver luckily understood. Hugely embarrassing scenario averted!
The area where we were staying was the old city and it was manic! Lots of tiny streets with a million motorbikes whizzing around and a few cars and buses too for good measure. Luckily there were a lot of food places to try and one night we even found a very affectionate little kitty which took a real shine to me and my chin.
Our days in Hanoi were a little frustrating due to massive amounts of rain and museums and other attractions being closed at strange times. This meant we didn't do much here apart from lots of walking to find restaurants as well as taking a walk around the lake.
We did however take a trip out of the city to Halong Bay about four hours away by bus. Queue next blog...
