Relaxation was the plan for Pushkar so that's what we did! Pushkar is a lovely little town on the edge of a small holy lake with many ghats where people come to pray and bathe (Though there didn't seem to be much of this going on). Had a bit of a hippy vibe here. Much much cleaner than anywhere else we've stayed so far as well as having more cows and stray dogs than anywhere else we've been! There was just one main stretch of shops and market stalls making getting around much easier to negotiate. Plus for some reason there were no beeping tuk tuks here, bliss! Though you had to watch out when wandering around, instead of taking care not to get run over like usual you had to take care not to step in one of the many biiiig piles of cow poo that you find everywhere. Tom was not quite so lucky on this front, ha! Quite funny when wandering along the main stretch of shops (which is only about a cars width) finding cow bottle necks and having to wait for them to get out of the way in their own sweet time. As we didn't do much in Pushkar i'll tell you about where we stayed as it was looovely. A little guest house away from the hustle and bustle and the couple who ran it were the nicest! We had a little room which opened out onto a terrace which was overlooked by a large tree which had hammocks hanging from it so you could relax. It had an area full of cushions so you could sit and chill in the shade, plus lots of hanging fabric everywhere making it feel really homely. They also liked playing really chilled out reggae and motown music as well as other stuff which we knew. First time of hearing music we recognised :). I felt we could have quite easily been sat somewhere at Glastonbury. Loved it. We also had a little lizard friend who liked to stay in our room each night, it was only appropriate to call him Larry. Mostly our time was spent eating, sitting in little garden cafés and mooching around the market. Other highlights included watching the sunset over the lake to the sound of beating drums, people dancing and performing poi. Very Glastonburyesque :)
