Our last train journey took us to our final Indian destination of Bangalore. We stayed 3 nights and 4 days and we did absolutely no sight seeing. We had had our fill of India by this point so were quite happy not to be rushing around looking at this, that and the other. I think the most energetic thing we did was go to the post office and send a few knick-knacks home. This being India involved no less than 3 people; the chief postmaster, a wrapping/weighing lady and finally a person who dealt with the money. AN HOUR later everything was packed ready to go. The attitude of the staff didn't fill us with confidence but I can report that all 4 parcels made it to their correct addresses.
Bangalore itself seemed to be a fairly nice city from what we saw. It seemed a lot cleaner and modern than even Mumbai. It had lots of western chains in the centre which was a novelty for us. We ended up going to Costa Coffee, KFC and The Hard Rock Café whilst there! The latter was supposed to be our last meal in India and was a supposed to be a real treat for us. The prices were on a par with the UK but the service was not. To cut a long story short we didn't actually end up eating our meals together as we had to send Hannah's burger back twice as they kept bringing the wrong one! Normally we wouldn't care about these things but when you're paying 10 or 20 times more than you would for a normal meal I think its fair to complain... did result in a free meal too :)
So at 1am on the 4th July we left India. We felt like we'd seen as much as we could for such a vast country. We saw some absolutely incredible things which will stay with us forever. It was however an incredibly hard country to be a backpacker in at times, nothing was easy. For a foreigner looking in it's incredibly frustrating, for locals though it's just how life is. It certainly made us appreciate how easy our life is back home and how very lucky we are.
