Sorry for how late this blog is, just never got round to finishing it off...

So we arrived in Phi Phi, and didn't know what to expect as most of the island had to be rebuilt after the tsunami, but it was beautiful at the harbour! There are no cars on the island so a man from the hotel came and picked up our backpacks in a giant wheel barrow and took them back for us! We stayed at Harmony House, which I would reccommend, it was one of the cheaper ones in Phi Phi but really nice. It seemed to take us forever to get there although it wasn't that far, walking through a maze of little cafes and shops. Eventhough it was really busy with tourists it didnt have the same commercialised feel as some of the other islands, not a maccas in sight! We were so shattered the day we arrived so we bought some knock off dvds and settled down in the hostel to watch them. We just went out for a meal that night and had a quiet one, because the next day was Paddys day!

We wandered down to the beach and already the main street was being filled with green balloons ready and the irish pub seemed to be full already! We went to the beach and were really disappointed, it was dirty manky and the sea was horrible, it turned out though apparently we were at the wrong side of the island oops! A few hours of polishing off our bat & ball skills and we headed back to get ready.

So we went out for some drinks expecting to meet a whole load of irish people, but everyone in green with their faces painted all seemed to be yanks! We went to get some guinness of course and I told the barman a little known fact that st Patrick was actually English and got a free drink, score! Headed across the road to the Irish pub and managed to meet a guy from Dublin and downed some buckets. In the end everyone headed to the beach to finish the party and stayed up until daylight of course and did the walk of shame home, at least we werent covered in green face paint! Needless to say we slept all day just venturing out for food and some more cheap dvds.

We had to be up early today because we had booked a day trip to 'The Beach'. So we got down to the harbour and got on our longtail boat, it ended up being us, some swedes and an Italian couple. Our first stop was out into the middle of the sea to do some snorkeling. The fish were amazing and it was so good to be right out in the middle of no where. Although it was so difficult to get back into the boat - with flippers on! We went round loads of different islands and snorkeled in loads of different places - I forget the names now though! Wish I had pics too because it was beautiful. Last stop was Maya Bay where The Beach was filmed, I wasn't sure what to expect because in the film it looks so amazing I didn't think it would be the same- but it was! We went quite late on in the afternoon so the beach was practically empty. We wandered around, and had a swim then it was time for us to leave. By this time the tide had gone out so we had to walk about 100m over sharp coral! To get back to the boat, it took us all about half an hour! On the way back we stopped to feed some fish - the boat driver (is that what they're called?!) had special food and they all came over to the boat. One of the swedes thought he's try to recreate it with his cheese puffs, but I don't think fish eat cheesey crisps! We watched the sun set from the boat in the middle of the sea, there was randomly another boat next to us blaring out Bob Marley, all I needed was a mojito in my hand to make it perfect! That night we took it easy as we were heading off to Phuket early the next day.
