Han & Dan
Kanchanaburi or the River Kwai which you might find easier to say was our next stop from Bangkok.
We stopped about 50ft from the River Kwai at a place called the Jolly Frog, it was amazing. They had a garden with hammocks and deck chairs and a resturant with about 30 pages of Thai food to choose from!!
This is definatly the best place we have stayed- both the accomodation and town.
We took full advantage of the relaxation facilities, the food and of course the beer.
We also did a day trip which included elephant riding, bamboo rafting, waterfall swimming and a train trip along Death Railway and then over The Bridge over the River Kwai.
It was a really early start but worth every second. We headed out to the elephant reserve first and got some pics with a 72 year old elephant. (He had his willy out and it dragged on the floor- ooohhhh, sorry but I have never seen anything like it in my life!! I took a pic so you could all see too!! See- I do think of you)
Anyway- we got to ride on this elephant and the guide sat on his head while we sat on his back in a chair thing. Our guide was only 17 and crazy- he kept singing happy birthday and football chants really loud!! He then jumped off and we got to sit on his head whch was fun but I didn't feel very safe.
Then was the rafting which was literally bamboo strapped together which was already under water before we even got on!! We headed down river with two others from Isreal, who then decided they wanted to stear. O MY GOD talk about simple- we ended up getting stuck and we all had to get off and pull the raft off the rocks.
After lunch we went to Erawan National Park where there is a 7 tiered waterfall. We trecked up to the top and on the way we saw a fu***n huge monitor lizard about 10ft away. After that every little branch looked like a snake or something that could eat me!! We swam in the top waterfall which was cool and then trecked back down and stopped off at all the others. One of the ones near the end had a bit where you could stand under the waterfall so Dan told me to swin to it. I got in the water and a fish sucked on my leg so I got out really quick- you would have thought it was a bloody shark!!
Then we went to a random little station where we saw a cave which was used as a hospital for all the victims when they were building the railway. There was a massive gold budda in there so people could pay there repects to all that had died.
We then got the trian along the railway for about 2 hours and ended up back at the River Kwai.
The next day we hired bikes- not a good idea as I nearly fell 40ft off the bridge, then got a puncture and cycled into a wall!!
I also went for a traditional Thai massage (Dan pussied out). It was well.... an experiance. I think she just pulled at me until something cracked- she even put her elbow into my butt- not good.
However, we were chatting to a couple on the bus back to Bangkok and they both had one in Bangkok and the chap was saying that he got offered extras if you know what I mean!! Glad Dan didn't go now!!
So enough of my little essay, you had all best get back to work!! Ha ha
