Xi'an... home of the Terracotta Warriors (and thats about it)
We got here Wednesday morning after spending 12 hours on the train with two friends from Israel- at least they spoke English which was a welcome change.
We spent a few days walking around the town and just chilling really. Xi'an is a really modern city with loads of trendy shops. Mum they had a street lined with shoe shops- maybe more than 30 next to each other, you would have loved it.
We went to see the Terracotta Warriors today- it was amazing. Instead of taking an expensive tour from the hotel we decided to chance the local bus. It only cost us 50p return and was surprisinly easy.
The warriors are about an hour out from the centre of Xi'an at the base of a mountain, it was really pretty.
They are still excuvating the sites so it was really interesting to see how it is done. Currently they have exposed 2000 warriors and horses and they think there are still 4000 still be be exposed. Not a job I could do- think it would take some patience.
I also have to tell you about something else I saw today that I think will haunt me forever.
They were selling fox fur which I can deal with, but they also had dog fur. There was an alsation, St Bernard and a Lassie dog.... sick f***ers (sorry mum).
Anyway, off to Chengdu tomorrow on another long train journey- only 18 hours this time and we leave at 1pm so we cant even sleep for most of it!! Rubbish!
We are also leaving early because we have moved to a cheaper room with shared toilets and Dan can't cope with the squatters!! Girly poof!!
Speak soon xx
