On the way to Vegas we visited 3 mattress outlets as the current mattress is hurting my back. We have visited lots of other places over the last few months without success as the problem we have is that although the size we need is a standard qeen (our king size) most mattresses are way to thick the average being 8 ins and we only need 6. This is because our roof clamps down for travelling and a thick mattress would stop the roof from closing. We finally found one and although it is not the best mattress in the world it is a lot better than the foam mattress we had. We paid for it and told them we would pick it up when we left Vegas.
We drove down the stip past all the famous hotels like New York, New York, Luxor and Ceasars Palace and I must admit it all looked a lot nicer than I had imagined from my memories of our visit many years ago. We drove to the Wynn at the north end of the strip where we were staying and arranged with security to park our vehicle in oversized parking which was several blocks away but still on hotel land.
Once we came into the hotel we entered the Vegas 'bubble' we had stepped out of the real world into fantasy land. This hotel and its sister hotel have only recently opened and were both absolutely stunning and luxurious. There were 15 restaurants, waterfalls, shopping arcades with only the best designer shops, it was truly awesome, not to mention the casinos.
We spent the next few days going from one luxurious hotel to another watching the various 'attractions' in each one like the dancing fountains at the Belaggio and the gondolas at the Venetian. The erupting volcano at the Mirage and the pirate ship battle at Treasure Island. The MGM Grand had a lion enclosure and we just happened to be there as they were being fed, but we never made it to the shark encounter at the Mandalay Bay. Cher and Lady Gaga were both performing in town but we didn't go to see either of them as we didn't want to have to make plans to do anything only whatever we felt like at the time.
All in all we had a great stay and enjoyed strolling about, relaxing by the pool and having a bit of a flutter in the casino. We just managed to keep our head above water, not winning a fortune, but not losing much either. In fact we enjoyed it all so much that we extended our stay and stayed another night.
It was a bit of a shock getting back on the road, mostly because of the heat in the camper but the new mattress made it easier on the old back.
