Meikles Adventure
Another wet night – it poured again! In the morning we woke up with water & sand covering the front annex of our tent – a biiigg mess! Never mind that – little mousie has joined us inside – hip hip hooray:O( A washing and cleaning morning. Sach put newspaper all over the tarp inside to try saok up most of the sand and water lying all about – a big soggy mess to sweep up later, but it definitely did the trick.
Car has got some electrical fault and doors are locking and unlocking at random. Spoke to a man & woman this morning from Beachport (where we stayed) and they were saying there was a plague of mice on the Eyre Peninsula (where we are now) until recently its got a little less due to the cold apparently. He said the biggest problem had been the mice chewing on wires in people's cars – I think we’ve carried a little critter a bit further than that though. We did already have electrical faults in our car from the Grampians! I only wish to soon not find rodent poo on my towels and toilet paper (all of which I need to use that day)!!
Drove into Streaky Bay to fill up on supplies for the crossing of the Nullabor. Then out to see some sea lions at the colony on … We came back via "The Haystacks" – inselbergs - rock outcroppings on farm land just 30 or so km from the ocean cliffs and sea lions. We have been food shopping, talking to annoying Telstra customer service and back to the caravan park to have leftovers and now very much later, go to bed.
Oh **** I just heard a mouse – so little but it has turned my heart to ice – urrggghh. Off to bed now, so Sach can protect me!
