We left palm springs around 10ish today & headed for lake havasu and another hotel. Sat nav told us 189 miles and ians weather app said it was above 40.

The journey was just as you imagine an American road trip... Long straight roads, little traffic and lots of desert. The roof was up and the air con was on high!

We drove on some spectacular roads winding through mountains and passing through massive areas of no civilisation. The highway warns drivers to turn down your aircon so you dont overheat your car and breakdown... We chose to ignore this.

When we arrived we went for a bite to eat at a pub at the end of London bridge. Lake havasu is famous for this bridge as they brought it back in the 60s from London and transported it all the way to Arizona. It is very unusual to see this plonked in the middle of this town.

Lake Havasu is a playground for boaters, the waiter said its mainly people from LA who enjoy watersports and cheap property. Every 5 minutes a motor boat passes through the river with a deep rumble. Ian went for a wander in the heat & only made it so far before he had to stop at a bar for a cold beer. He even got jeered at by some jocks for wearing pink shorts.

And for the second time people have stopped to have a look at the mustang aka Pocahontas, the first time time being in Hollywood.

We have changed our plans slightly and we are heading for Las Vegas on Monday.
