Greg and Kerrie's travels
Tuesday 12.04.2011 - today we rode the Amalfi Coast, which runs from Salerno to Sorrento (and return), a distance of about 50 km each way. We travelled this route in 2007 and to say Greg was a little bit flustered at the time is an understatement. Not being fond of heights and travelling in the direction that had the bike closest to the cliffs (and the sea 100 metre below!); coupled with blind corners, narrow roads and sometimes crazy Italian drivers - well you know the rest. Oh, and don't forget the buses!! Greg swore that he would never, ever, ride that piece of road again. Repeat NEVER!
Anyway, since we decided to return to Europe (see earlier blog entry when planning for this trip began in 2009 when we were in the USA), Kerrie has chipped away at Greg subtley suggesting we should ride the Coast again, but this time in reverse so we would be CLOSEST to the mountain side (and be squashed against the wall by a 40 seater bus!). After telling all and sundry it WAS going to happen, Kerrie convinced Greg that it was all part of the Grand Plan - Greg managed again by Kerrie. So what else is new?
We set off with bright and sunny weather - perfect for the ride. We followed the coast through small villages of Amalfi (from where the name comes), through Positano to Sorrento and return.
Here is a compendium of photos taken from the ride.
At the end of the day - Greg's response - Hardly a challenge!

Sandra Go Greg, well done on the Coast ride and the ramp off the boat - we know how bad that is. So loved the Coast photos, we really want to go to Positano - thanks for all the updates we are really enjoying them.
