Greg and Kerrie's travels
Sunday 24.04.2011 - after the disappointment of not riding Stelvio Passo we decided to find a place on the shores of Lake Como so that we could ride around it, a journey of about 155 km all way round.
Being Lake Como, most digs are expensive. Luckily Kerrie found on the net the Residence Gerano that is right on the lake. It is a bit tired but was clean and tidy and had secure, underground parking for the P-D. We booked in at about 11.30 am, dumped our panniers etc and headed off round Lake Como.
We stopped at a small and very busy lakeside venue, had a coffee and a walk around. Greg found a car he liked very much, thought briefly about buying one, and then remembered he couldn't afford the first service!
When we reached Lecco at the southern tip of the Lake
we were pleasantly surprised to find that 'Sportsbike Sunday' was well and truly alive and well.
Bikes, bikes and more bikes! We pulled in, parked (on the footpath of course), and joined in as 'two of the bikers' amongst 500 others.
Reluctantly, we remounted the P-D and completed our circumnavigation of Lake Como.
The eastern side of the Lake was somewhat disappointing. It is 50 km from Lecco at the southern tip, to the northern point and 30 km was through tunnels! Hardly sightseeing. Never mind.
After dinner we went for a walk along the shores of Lake Como and Kerrie took a great photo of the lake at night.
We decided to stay a second day here and ride the 160 km return trip to St Moritz the next day to visit the rich and famous.
