Greg and Kerrie's travels
Sunday 30.05.2011 - We found our way to Heysham and queued with all the other bikers awaiting boarding onto the ferry that would take us to Douglas, the capital city of the Isle of Man. The Isle would be our home for the next two weeks while we watched the world's most famous road race – the Tourist Trophy or the TT as its better known.
After waiting for nearly two hours we were finally given the green flag to board the ferry.
It didn’t matter to us bikers that we had to wait as we 'bike watched’ and then caught up with other people that we knew including Eric and Lou who had also shipped into Izmir Turkey with us and Mark and Kate, who had shipped into Felixstowe in 2007 where we first met them. They loved it so much that we had returned in 2009 and again this year. The stickers on their bikes paid testimony to where they had been in Europe from Scandinavia to Spain and everywhere in between.
After boarding the ferry we made sure that the Pommie Ducati and the RG500 were tied down securely before we found our way upstairs to the lounge area where we sat in compfy chairs for the 3 hour cruise into Douglas.
Kerrie, ever the eagle eye, soon spied Guy MARTIN who is one of the favorites to win a TT this year. She jumped up and made a bee line towards poor Guy who was making his way through the server area getting himself a feed. She put on her best smile and asked could she take his photograph. After receiving affirmation she then snapped the shy Guy who was trying to look sheepishly away. Funny because Guy is a guy who is in the limelight so often but is really publicity shy is Guy.
We finally reached Douglas where we were escorted to our digs for the next two weeks. More to follow...
