Greg and Kerrie's travels
Monday 16.05.2011 to Wed 18.05.2011 - we left our digs near Le Mans and rode north to Dieppe where we had booked to catch the ferrie to Newhaven in England.
We found there was about another 35 bikers queued up with us
and when we found the ferry was delayed 4 hours due to engine problems (sounds ominous!) and we walked around admiring each others bikes and talking about nothing in particular except of course - bikes!
We finally sailed at 7 pm with an expected arrival time of 11 pm.
Due to heavy weather we arrived in England an hour late after midnight and then finally got to our hotel at 1 am - b*****! We crashed out and then Greg had to get up at 7.30 am to make sure the bike was re-parked from out the front to where the council parking officers wouldn't get at it.
For being such a reliable stead we took the P-D to the local Triumph dealer for a nice surprise of clean, new oil and a new oil filter. The service technician (read mechanic) and salesman couldn't believe we had ridden from Turkey because for them a 75 mile trip to London is a long way.
We then headed for Nellie and Eric's.
Kerrie's sister Vicki is married to Michael REILLY. Mick's aunt and uncle are Nellie and Eric DAVIS who live in Sussex at Golden Cross. We first met Nellie and Eric in 1982 when we back packed around the world when we were still in our 20’s (just). We have stayed with them again in 1997, 2004, 2007 and now and they have stayed with us in Australia.
We had two relaxing days with Nellie and Eric where we re-charged our batteries, did some laundry, ate some good food and caught up with some sleep.
Then it was time to ride to London to pick up Chris.
