Today is the 23rd July apparently (I have lost all track of days and dates cos it just doesn't matter!)
The bus was 6hours on Tuesday and the air con was a bit dodge so very glad to finally be off it.
Mui Ne is on a 12km long beach and has quite an island feel about it, feels kind of like Raro to me apart form the vietnamese people of course.
Our hotel is on the beach and has a pool and aircon for $USD7.50 each a night which is great and about 1/4 of the price of the hotel in Nha Trang.
We went for a walk to the end of the beach yesterday afternoon, thought it looked a little black but Camille reckoned we would make it back in time... NOT.
The storm came in fast and we ended up running or trying to run in soft sand in torrential rain lightning and thunder much to the amusement of people sitting in restaurants and bars along the way.
Made it back to the hotel, nothing else for it but to sit the rest of the storm out in the warmth of the pool.
Couple of Tigers at the hotel bar over the beach watching the lightning - amazing stuff, I had never seen fork lightning before last night. Lit up the whole sky! Lightning lasted all night but no more rain. Had a great dinner along the road bbq kebabs with bbq baked potatoes followed by banana crepes with chocolate sauce and a couple of caipharinas (don't know how to spell it) yum yum....
We went on a half day jeep tour of Mui Ne and went to fairy falls which is a waterfall and stream that runs through sand dunes, fishing village that we just took pics of as it started to rain again and then to the red sand dunes and white sand dunes where we did sand boarding. Not happy at white sand dunes as they had a long tail macaque chained up.
The storm came in fast again so we cut the tour short and came back to town, we must've missed the worst of the rain because there was severe flooding in parts of the main street.
Had an aftersun massage for an hour which was amusing, they insisted that we be completely naked but Camille refused to take her shorts off. The little vietnamese girls thought it was hilarious and kept laughing... funny until she slapped me on the bum, laughing and pointing! For a culture that is so conservative and keeps covered up at all times its a little odd....
Another great dinner, then to the hotel bar on the beach for a couple of mojitos and pool. Finished off at about 12.30 with a refreshing swim.
Off to get breakfast soon before being picked up to be taken to Saigon by car (5 hours but we shall see) I can't see how 200km can take that long but again nothing would surprise me.
