Well here we are in Hoi An. Another full on few days...
Halong Bay was amazing - thousands of tiny islands about an hour or so off the coast in the Gulf of Tonkin. We stayed on a traditional junk for the night and had the most amazing food. Transfers from and to Hanoi (about 3 hours each way) a night on the boat, 2 lunches, dinner and breakfast all for $99. Felt like we were eating continuously.
We were taken to a floating fishing village and went kayaking around the bay and through a sea cave. Nearly went swimming but just as me and Camille were getting in everyone got out because of jellyfish - lucky!
Back to Hanoi on Wednesday with just enough time for a quick Tiger before heading to the airpoirt and flying down to Danang.
Danang was a funny place - seriously strange looks from locals which is understandable, I think we saw about 3 westerners in total apart from us.
Got the bus down here to Hoi An yesterday and it is just fantastic. Very small and laid back, gorgeous architecture and the hotel has a pool although it is like swimming in a warm bath.
Last night we went to Cafe des Amis where there is no menu but they do 5 course dinners either vegetarian, seafood or meat for 100,000 dong (about $9) Definitely the best food I have had so far. The chef goes to the market in the morning then decides what to cook from whtas available that day so the food changes daily. Very cool.
After dinner off to Tam Tam bar for a few mojitos before heading to salsa club for numerous buckets (vodka AND whiskey so I found out this morning) and lots of dancing. Heaps of fun.
Me and Teresa left Camille and Tracy to it and walked back to the hotel where we had to get the poor man up at half 3 to let us in.
Little worse for wear this morning, I got up and had breakfast and quick swim before heading back to bed in air conditioned comfort. Crazy crazy hot outside just impossible to go out in it for even a few minutes.
Finally woke up at 2pm! Walked and got lunch had a manicure and booked flights to Nha Trang on Sunday as the flight was full tomorrow. Loving Hoi An so its all good.
Think I will go for a cycle after and get a dress or 2 made - $15 each and made to measure you can't get better than that.
Tomorrow may be an early start for a trip to My Son to see the sunrise and have a look around so a 5am start will make up for todays laziness!
