Excellent, fast, smooth and comfortable journey on Eurostar. Ian had his little penknife confiscated as it had a looking blade. He wasn't pleased but it would have cost £18 to send it home!!
Enjoyed the journey to Paris where it became slightly hairy as a combination of people taking an age to get off the train and the usual Parisian traffic meant we thought we would miss the TGV!!
In fact we all made it- just. We ran down the platform One of the couriers took my case and threw it onto the train. We lost Ian, gained someone else's case, the guard pushed M and H, me, and another couple onto the train- not our coach - as the doors closed! M all but dropped a case onto a baby in a buggy and as the train lurched forward I fell into the toilet!
Eventually made our way to our seats, were reunited with Ian and my case but Ian who had a bad back already, and Maurice who had been carting 2 cases up and down stairs on the train both ticked their backs. We then proceeded to sit in the train which, apart from the initial lurch, didn't move for 1-5 mins. However nobody can board or leave the train after the doors close right on time.
Anyway apart from the hairy run to board, we had a lovely smooth run in great comfort with a couple of glasses of wine and ever increasingly blue skies.
Beautiful Art Deco Hotel ( the Hyatt) on the promenade. Ultimate luxury. Late when we arrived tho so just dumped the luggage and went next door to the Hotel for a couple of steaks with fries and salad. Excellent. Slept very well.
