Finally the last stop before home! We arrived at Madrid at midnight and the directions to the hotel were rubbish our map too was also rubbish and it was awfully hot even at this time of night .We wondered round for half an hour near the place we were supposed to be and couldnt find it and rang up the guy and he didnt speak a word of English we were both shouting at him and he was probably shouting at us but neither could understand anyway so it wasnt offensive. We eventually asked some people who were on a night out and they pointed us in the right way and when we got there it didnt even have a sign! It was just in an apartment block like the some of the others we stayed in. We went straight to bed the hotel was ok we had shared bathrooms but we had a half bath/ shower thing in our room so that was good.
Madrid was boiling even at night when we were lost it was still over 30 degrees. The next day we hunted down this indoor market tapas thing that the girls from valencia had told us about it was sososososo good. Everything is like a euro and every place is different we had caviar, home made lemonade, sangria, oysters ( which are awful) kebab sticks, deep friend bacon, deep friend cheese, sushi! it was so nice and so yummy! We bought some churros and hot chocolate but then realised we didnt have enough money she was nice and understood even though she couldnt speak English and let us off!
We then went to the palace and had a look round it was nice to be honest to just stay out of the sun in the heat of the day. We then decided the next day to go to a bull run just outside of town we were both really really nervous and it was another early start however we slept in! Our first time this whole trip weve slept in! We went on the free tour of Madrid which showed us around a bit more but the tour was too big usually your in a group of 20 but instead we were in a group of like 65 it was huge she said if she had done her job well she deserved 10 euros from each person which we thought was really rude as no one else had ever said how much they expected to be paid otherwise its not a "free" tour we paid her 5 between us she got so much money by the end of it though like enough for a months rent in one daily tour! She told us that the art gallerys were free for EU students and that the Salvador Dali melting clocks was there so we decided to go as we had nothing better to do. It wasnt there. Dan got really restless he hates art even more then me and we werent impressed by her lying at all to say she apprently loved the galleries!
We decided on our last night to join the bar crawl which was €8 not too bad. The guy who run this tour was also from Harrogate and his little brother went to our school -weird! But we didnt recognise the name. The bars we went to were so expensive so we had our free shot then left and went to a little bar near ours that did mojitos for €2. We stayed there alot longer then we meant to and then went back and joined the bar crawl. The harrogate guy was not impressed. The last "club" was just another bar apart from this one was actually busy. All the spanish girls actually danced like they were doing flamenco which was cool I thought they just danced like we do. We got free shots and then the girl gave us like 5 more because they'd lost some people along the way so we didnt actually have to buy any ourselves. We left pretty early so that we could go to the bull run that was tomorrow before our flight home. When the alarm went I felt terrible I had managed to catch a cold/flu at somepoint! My nose wouldnt stop running and I felt freezing even though it was a constant 30 degrees. We had another lie in and then got the tube to the airport- which is huggggeee!
