Puerto iguazu
We set off from ba and had a long drive to a bush camp, it was behind a crappy petrol station with horrible toilets, there was rubbish everywhere and it smelled bad. We had chicken for dinner then when I finished I walked over to clean my plate when the grass started shaking and a snake shot off right in front of me, it was only small but we lost track of it and it could have gone under someone's tent. There were also massive toads the size of footballs everywhere and you would kick them by accident in the dark. It was hot and sweaty and no one slept well at all in the tents.
The drive to puerto iguazu was hot and sweaty, it was awful on the truck, even the wind coming through was really hot. We finally got to the hostel and it had a pool so a lot of people jumped in straight away.
We went out that night to a steak house that was a little expensive but really delicious. After this we went to bed, the air con was really dodgy and kept turning on and off every 30 seconds all night, it was beeping like mad and was barely on but it was that hot people put up with it.
That morning we got up and all the non Brits had to go to the Brazilian embassy to get visas before all going to the falls together.
Everyone had problems and they all had to re apply for visas because they had done something wrong. But it got to the point where they would be late and the rest of us had to get a taxi to the falls. We shared with Chloe and stu and got in and told him we wanted to go to the falls and showed him the map to make sure he knew. He kept asking if we wanted to go to Brazil but we kept saying no. We drove for a while and seemed to pass the entrance to the falls, we pointed and said we wanted to go there he said yea its further up, we got the map out again to show him and he said yes its further up. Eventually we started going into the airport where we all started shouting no and to turn around and then go back down where we were supposed to go.
Finally at the falls we booked a boat ride and started walking around the walkways to see the falls. There were some really funny animals called cotis which were like a cross between monkeys and ant eaters, they were very strange.
We kept seeing different angles of the falls and it was really awesome, there were so many different falls and they went on for ages and ages. We went for the boat ride which went right under the falls, we got absolutely soaking wet but it was really good fun, we went under a few times and the falls were so heavy you couldn't even open your eyes.
After this we walked to the top of the falls to get a view from above which was also a really awesome view. We then got on a small train and went to one section called the devils throat, which was a walkway going over a really fierce part of the falls. We got absolutely soaked again and it was getting cold. We got the train back down and it was pouring it down, we had to get a bus back and we were drenched and freezing, when we got back we got in the pool as it was as warm as a bath.
We bought steak from the supermarket and cooked it at the hostel but it was terrible and such a disappointing steak to leave Argentina on.
