Waking up to rain was not on my "to-do" list. The drizzle soon cleared and taking the car along the beach was a bit scary. What would we tell Budget if it all went horribly wrong? It was pelicans galore as we drove along the sands next to the water. Heading back to the road and it's once again south crossing the state border on the Astoria-Megler Bridge which is approximately 4 miles long into Oregon. Stopping in Astoria for lunch at a brewery we happened upon the Ggonies house.
There are lots of state parks in Oregon (can somebody tell us he difference between a state park and a country park please?) and our first was Fort Stevens where a British shipwreck, Peter Iredale stands on the sands after running aground in 1906.
Seaside, our destination for tonight is a much smaller Blackpool with slot machines and tacky shops. Nonetheless we enjoyed a walk around and a go on the pedaloes!
Guess which film we're watching tonight, apparently a lot of it was filmed in Ecola State Park which is one of tomorrow's stops....
