Its the end of term and nearly Christmas, so Matt decided to surprise me with a wonderful trip to Bath!
I've only been to Bath as a teenager, for festivals, and it was hardly the same experience!!!
The plan was to go to the Christmas market, but unfortunately it was finished. That did, however, mean that we had more time for other things. We started out with some Christmas shopping and a look at the beautiful parade gardens. Then we went to 'Couer de Lion' for lunch, which prides itself on being the smallest pub in Somerset.
It really is tiny, but lovely, and the food was fab. We also enjoyed a game of scrabble whilst we ate.
After lunch we did a bit more shopping, then we went to the thermae spa, which was beautiful. Steam rooms, foot spas, mineral pools with just enough current to drift around effortlessly in.
But the best part was the rooftop pool. The massage jets where ridiculously powerful and as the sun set and the city lit up the views were stunning. The abbey bells were rung as we floated around under the stars.
Finally we rounded the evening off with cocktails and tapas, something we haven't done together since our honeymoon five years ago. Matt was going to take me to the theatre, but we decided a quiet drink together was more sociable and long overdue.
It was such a great time, and the hotel was lovely too. A fantastic Christmas present.
