We have arrived! Great flight with Virgin Australia - 12 1/2 hours to Los Angeles! Movies, bit of reading, food and few drinks- not much sleeping! Raym did an amazing job driving our Ford Fusion from LAX to Santa Barbara! Unbelievable 6 lanes of freeway in both directions with horrendous traffic! Hadn't factored in labour day weekend! Some slight angst finding accommodation but all sorted! Refreshed from 30 degree heat and lack of sleep with a swim and beer!
Very happy with our first nights accommodation - after several "no vacancies" the Lemon Tree Inn motel proved great, especially a refreshing swim in the pool to wake us after the arduous drive from LAX. Drove back downtown and found the Tupelo Jundi Cafe and had a great meal! (it's not all about the food, but....)
Amazing little breads served pre entree - incl cornbread; then catfish and fries - beautiful. I had shrimp and scallops with grits and lobster gumbo sauce!!! Unreal! When in America ......
Sleep was interrupted with much anticipated texts from the boys!! Go the Butchers!!! An amazing grand final victory!!
