This morning after a much needed sleep in wandered along Stearns Pier and had an amazing Santa Barbara omelette at Moby d*** .Our first bit of sightseeing included the courthouse building and the iconic Santa Barbara Mission.Feeling the heat - constantly looking for bottled water.Got away from Santa Barbara about midday - on highway 101 - to Solvang. Vaguely how I remembered it - but so much more!! Everywhere you turn there are more gorgeous Danish buildings, more windmills, more shops and even more people!! To be expected on a holiday weekend I guess but quite overwhelming. Enjoyed our coffee and Danish pastry though!Getting use to our GPS now as "she" directed us to Pismo Beach via Santa Maria - initially somewhat untrusting I guess as I still like to hold a map!Pismo Beach interesting beachside town with long protruding wooden pier, wide stretches of sand and sheer cliffs. Can't believe the abundance of vineyards - it is California after all!!Highway veers inland slightly to San Luis Obispo - interesting looking town - then back along the coasts to Morro Bay and Cambria to San Simeon. Town is split by the highway. Staying at the Silver Surf Motel. Bought a bottle of Californian chardy and enjoyed a meal at The Big Sur Diner - my first clam chowder!! Fabulous!
