Got up at like 4 o clock in the morning to go see Angkor Wat at sunrise. After sliding out of bed and onto our bikes without a shower or anything, we ventured out into the night, with curious concerned looks from locals cause white peiople were on bikes at this time.
We got there and going through it was creepy. The sky was covered with clouds and the towers loomed over everybody. We stood waiting for sunrise which didn;t really show. Impatient as I am we went in.
It was like stepping into the 10trh century as lonely planet said. Old chambers, old carvings and corridors were still in perfect condition. The corridors were a maze. We went out to see the towers up to the top./ It was amazing. The stairs were so steep that you couldn't even imagine climbing them.
Some local asked us if we wanted to go up the towers. Brett was skeptic, I was all for it. The hguy looked official with a walky talky and stuff so why not.
So we climbed up the stairs, and through the building scaffolding which was a =bit sketchy. Looking around it was even more archaic and great. There were places you couldn't go in that were for buddhists only. Iyt was cool.
On the way down some other guy whispered to our guide, and we came down a different part. Tuyrns out that the walky talkys were used so that they could hide from the officials!
We went to another temple which was just as beautiful. it was striahgt out of indiana jones film. Faces comiung out of the walls, staring at you. it was very cool. This was equally a maze and if it weren't for as pack of japanaese toourists around, i would be scared
