Bus from Pakse: Up at 8am, then a mini bus to Don Det and another minibus to the border. Borders are so funny, $2 to get out of Lao, 50m walk across no mans land, $1 + form for 'health check', $23 +form for the visa and $2 + form for the stamp into Cambodia. Onto the next bus and through Cambodia...
At 1730 we stopped at a restaurant for dinner and another change of bus. That 2 mini-busses and 2 coaches all on one ticket- kinda impressed with the organization. We got into Siem Reap at about 11pm. After a brief issue with tuk-tuks we were on our way to the center (basically the guy who was in charge of the bus wanted us to get one specific guy's tuk-tuk so we went to his mates guest house so he'd get commission).
The Guest house is pretty nice (and another tv). Although I did have to engage in a little subtle negotiation to get a decent price.
Tom: If subtle means grunting "no way" at 10 dollars and walking off, then I don't know what subtle means Brett.
