1st Day siem Reap: We went for breakfast and the guy on the desk asked us our plans- we said the Rolous (oldest) Group of Temples. He said: 'no problem, I get you driver'. And who turned up? The tuk-tuk driver from last night! Ah well not really surprised, I don't think he was happy to see us- I was tired may have been a little surly!
But we discussed a sensible price and headed off. The temples were pretty amazing. Intricate carvings on an enormous scale, although I'm sure nothing compared to the bigger one- doing them by bike tomorrow. There were loads of kids trying to sell stuff, you really can't blame them but it got a little wearing after a while!
The driver was rubbish. It took us about 2 hours to visit the 3 temples in the group and the driver gave no ideas about what else we should do. So we went to the museum. Quite pricy at $10 but pretty cool and lots of info. Lunch at a Khmer place then back to the hotel to relax. The driver wanting more money to visit other temples we decided to call it quits.
The funnier bit is that he tried to talk us out of taking mountain bike around tomorrow saying it's better with tuk-tuks. Suffice it to say he got no tip!
Tom: Don't you remember the night time. Gaawwwd! Well we went to a barbecue place where they served lots and lots of meat to make you puke. On our barbecue we had shrimp, snake, frog's legs and beef. It was okay. I wasn't too impressed at a tasteless snake. Also we saw a fish tank where they eat at your feet.
Brett: Tom wouldn't even put his hand in for the first 5 minutes whilst I get tickled by hordes of fish. TomPakse is such a wuss!
