¡Hola!
Long time no blog people, cannot remember where I left you!
So alot has happened! On the Wednesday I had a little explore around where I am living which is really nice and went to my first placement! The school is really good the teachers are great and the kids level of English is fantastic! After that myself and Charlotte went to the Childrens home which was heart breaking. After that we had take out.
On Thursday I went to the zoo as you may have seen! It's well worth the visit. Also they were shooting a telenovela there too (soap opera) so I tried to walk past every 5 minutes to get in shot! In the afternoon I went to my other placement at the Jewish school which is also really good! We have some new voulnetters whom go to uni in Sheffield! Jen and Bekki, whom are really nice girls so we went out for our tea and went to a bar.
On Friday I went to my placement and we also went to go see Spiderman 3, which is ok and then we went for tea again!
On Sunday Charlotte and I went down to Puerto Madero (The Port) and went on some of the old boats and got some lunch. Then we went to La Boca which is really cool. I bought a great painiting by someone without limbs! Then we got back to the hostel and went out again for tea as it was Jason's last night! I am beggining to feel like the size of a house! Then we went to a cool little bar called the speak easy it's a great little find!
On Sunday I got up quite late and went to a fantastic place for brunch, where you get 3 courses, the first one being a platter of caviar etc, the second being an omelatte with salmon and the best chocolate cake ever with champange of course! All this for 6 quid ... amazing! After this I went to Recoleta with Beki and Jen to see Eva Peron's tomb in Recoleta cemetry. It's fantastic the tombs are so impressive and it's really peaceful. Also there were alot of cats there too, but thats what they say isn't it cats are more in touch with spiritual things? Then we went to the market, didn't buy anything as it was all much of a muchness and there is ment to be a better flea market in San Tolemo where I am going this weekend!
On Monday I went to my community placement for people living on the streets to teach them English. The building is so delapadated with no hot water, heating, broken windows and hardly a roof! The class were really nice but you couldn't help feel sorry for them in their situation. After a treck accross Buenos Aires I went to the Jewish school and my class had gone camping so I only really prepared a few lessons although I went into a 5 year old class. It's amazing to think of their age and they can speak Spanish and English. We need to get Joseph going!
Yesterday Beki and I went to the Evita museam which was really interesting, she did so much for the country and was dispised by the upper classes. After this we went to a coffee shop and then it started to rain! I then went up the main shopping street Florida and bought some Spanish books. I was looking for a laptop case as the leather is really good here but didn't find one but someone said that there is a better area for leater. I also went into the catherdral which was amazing and really ornate. I have mastered walking around Buenos Aires like a pro - you are handed out leaflets every 2 seconds worse than Sheffield if thats possible with the Big issue sellers and market surveys! All you need to do is walk tall and look really pissed off! It was raining also! I stayed in last night and made a tuna pasta bake - like at home for me and charlotte with a bottle of wine and fell asleep in front of a film!
Today I am at my other school with some older children and then this evening Charlotte and I are going to the Childrens home.
Hope everyone is O.K and I am missing you all - got quite home sick the other day but you just need to keep yourself busy!
Am planning to go the Iguazu falls which are ment to be fantastic and will be going to Uruguay soon. Not to mention Rio for a week for only 100 quid return! I am also have decided to spend a few nights in Madrid before I return!
¡Adios todos!
