As previously mentioned we had rocked up into the chilled out beach town of Mui Ne. 5 nights were on the cards, but we had left Hoi An wishing we'd have stayed for 1 more...never mind though we live and learn, maybe next time around!
Other than chilling pool and beachside, we decided to get off our backsides and stop bbq'ing like a crocodile! You may wonder why I would use such a metaphor but as you can see from the picture you can quite easily order crocodile from most restaurants here! So we decided to hire a Harley Davidson (well a moped, but near enough), and join the hells angels (that's assuming they wear safety helmets, drive 5 mph slower than the speed limit and honk their girlie little horns whenever anyone's around).
The widely talked about 'white dunes' were our destination where we would swop our bicycle with a tiny engine for a full on beast of a quad! With my manliness on the rise we set off for 20 minutes of exhilarating and adrenaline fuelled sand rallying.........I'm not sure whether it was 5 or 6 minutes later when we were stuck on a rather steep slope sliding sideways into a small marsh. With me trying to rescue the situation by reversing backwards, we edged ever closer to tipping sideways and down the slope. With Walshy deciding it was best for her to get off and laugh, she left me with panic on my face and the only other option that would disintegrate any ounce of manliness I had left...I had to shout over the 11 year old Vietnamese kid to get us out of there!!! In no time at all he had spun us round, actually driven head on down the steep slope (with me and Stace hanging on for dear life) and back to safety. With him then having the cheek to ask for what would equate to a 3 quid tip, I gave him 50p and a notion that should he ever visit the UK, he shouldn't eat yellow snow! The next ten minutes were a little less dramatic with the both of us agreeing that the moped was adventurous enough!
Other events in Mui Ne, included a hotly contested game of tropical mini golf where Walshy supposedly won by 1 shot, I say supposedly as it later transpired that she had stopped her ball rolling back down a hill once (she says) so we added a shot on and called it evens. As you can imagine this cheered me up no end, not that I'm a bad loser or anything! Chuck in a few games of pool and an extremely long game of darts (Stacey getting closer and closer to the board to the point that she may as well have just stuck them in!) and without knowing it, the 5 nights were over and it was time to strap on the backpack and head on South to Vung Tau.
