Left Falmouth in the morning-with difficulty, as I missed the train!
That is the trouble when you live only 2 minutes from the station. I swear it left early.
Panic! I ran back home and searched for a taxi number in the telephone books and called for a taxi urgently.
Taxi took me to Truro Station and I had to pay in dollars as had no pound notes.
I had called Dave my next door neighbour who was going on the same train to wait for me at the barriers to help me carry my bag up the steps over to the platform. He was there, but so was the train - which pulled out as we were going up the steps.
So now we had both missed that train also! He was so kind as he said it didn't matter to him what time he arrived in London. So we had a coffee and waited for the next train which was only another hour but was slower.
Enjoyed the journey up chatting with Dave and looking at the countryside.
As Dave was helping me off the train at Reading he asked me if it would be cold in Boston. I replied that it might but I have my warm coat - and immediately realised I hadn't. I was just about to leave my coat and jacket on the train.
Anyway, arrived at the airport in plenty of time and, of course, the BA flight to Boston was delayed.
Whilst waiting at the departure gate, I chatted with Salina who originates from Kosovo but now lives in Boston and Dusseldorf. She is so bubbling and friendly and travels all over the world for her company. Not sure exactly what the company is but she has a medical degree.
It turned up the she was seated in the same row as me. Between us was Daniella who was also friendly and fun. She was a corporate lawyer.
We chatted animatedly waiting for the food and drinks to arrive which was an unusually long time but ok.
I watched World War Z with Brad Pitt because some of it had been filmed in Cornwall. It was a disaster movie in more ways than one.
Later I was cackling with laughter watching the TV programmes 'Not Going Out' with Lee Mack.
The flight was bumpy and at times had to hold the wine in the air to stop it spilling.
There was a long queue and wait at immigration. I was processed quickly as had already arranged the ESTA form and with their visa waiver process it was no problem. They just take all your fingerprints by pressing your fingers on a green screen.
Salina' s friend was picking her up from the airport and she insisted on taking ne to my booked accommodation (www.airbnb) in Winthrop which is about 10 minutes from Logan Airport.
My host Rob was there to greet me.
I have a lovely big room in a very clean flat. They have a fancy Keurig coffee maker with which I had a delicious chocolate drink. We both watched in panic as the cup was overflowing and we wondered if it was ever going to stop.
Everything is supplied that you might need - towels, shampoos, snacks in the room. Information pack and wifi access. In the kitchen I was just told to help my self to anything.
There is also a washing machine and dryer for your use.
It as all so wonderfully convenient.
Then I crashed in the comfortable double bed.
