Falmouth village is located half way between the north pole and the Equator.
Via Truro. Pisiguit formerly.
I now had a week to go. So there was time to visit a part of Canada that I hadn't yet visited. That is New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and maybe Newfoundland.
I had hoped to do this from Bangor but the busses to Canada didn't run anymore. I really didn't want to go all the way back to Boston as that was the only route by public transport.
I decided to look into renting a car and was pleasantly surprised to be offered a car for a week for only $150 with Enterprise Cars. It seemed too good to be true. Yes it was!
We had completed all the paper work and checks when he told me that I wasn't insured and would be liable for any damage unless I had my own insurance which I didn't have. So I had to pay an extra $130 for insurance. Which I did of course but he should have said before and I felt tricked.
I drove off and it was scary at first and I keep trying to get in on the wrong side sometimes even sitting in the passenger seat!
I drove for 5 hours to the Canadian border and overnighter in Calais (with 's' pronounced) on the US side.
The last couple of hours was travelling in wild countryside where people went bear hunting.
Again brilliant sunshine and I was concerned that the road looked shiny in the dark and I was worried in case of ice.
Drove through industrial St Johns. Tried to get tourist information at a tourist information place but after turning round with difficulty to go there, found that all tourist information stuff had been cleared out and there was only a restaurant.
Drove on to Prince Edward Island via a 13 kms bridge. This will cost $44 on the way out.
Stayed in a motel in Charlottetown which was just past the village of Cornwall.
There was a lot of tedious driving but at least it was in brilliant sunshine.
I'm still getting in the wrong side of the Nissan Versa sedan.
