Saturday. Woke early went in to Hobart with Tony who had a Sea float Plane flying lesson at 8 am. We strolled round the fabulous Salamanca Saturday market that sold all sorts. We bought a few small bits & pieces but on the whole found stuff rather expensive. We have found Tasmania to be expensive altogether.
We met Tony at around 10.30am had coffee etc. then went to the small airport where he took us up in his little sea plane - this differs from a float plane in that it has a watertight hull that lands on the water rather than on underslung floats. I was very nervous at first never having flown in anything smaller than a passenger jet but I soon got over that and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We then joined Teresa for lunch at one of their favourite restaurants & met Teresa's friend Donna. By this time it was around 3pm so we went home & chilled for a bit
In the evening we went to the Cinema to see a fab sub titled film the Intouchables. It was a French film & really good we would both recommend it. Before the film we went to a Fish restaurant where we met Tony & Teresa's neighbours Robert & Amy. They are trying to sell their house & move back to Sydney where they moved to Tassie from a few years ago. Amy doesn't like the weather here - it's too cold most of the time. She is originally from Shanghai. Also reading between the lines they are not impressed with the cost of living here which we have found to be a bit exorbitant. The houses look nice but are built very much to a price and without very efficient double glazing or insulation. This is like many seaside areas which seem to only cater for summer.
