After the fun of last night, we're up pretty early and head out around 9.00 am to watch Seville wake up, the streets have been cleaned overnight and it's quite fresh out there. We walk toward the Cathedral and actually go inside to watch the service, there are quite a lot of folks in the congregation there already. Considering though, that the Spanish Inquisition orginated here, if I was a local I'd still be hedging my bets as well. There's been plenty of skullduggery here in the past including pogroms which stripped the victims of their wealth and real estate, funnily enough where the Churches and Cathedrals now stand. That said though, there's an architectural wonder on every corner here, it's very flat and you can walk pretty much everywhere. Cycling seems to be a very popular way to see the sights as well and totally makes sense.
We also took a cruise down the river as it was getting to the time when the locals shut up shop and head for siesta. The temperatures where above 28 deg.c and it was nice to be under cover on board a ship catching the breeze off the river. Seville in it's heyday was a massive river port which handled the vast wealth that came from the Americas - this made sense as the river could be defended all the way up from the coast. At this time there were Berber pirates from northern Africa who would have been constantly plagueing the Spanish Coast.
After the boat trip we head back to the Hotel and it made sense to do the same as the locals and bunker down for a couple of hours until the weather cools off. Later we headed over the river to the area called Triana - Prices plummet once you get here as it's more a residential area, that said though everyone is out enjoying themselves walking around, eating Tapas, enjoying a drink and having a good time. The architecture dies down a bit this side but it's worth having a wander round the back street. We end the evening in a nice restaurant by the Triana Bridge.
We like Seville.

Gareth Gibbs Very informative account of you short visit, highly enjoyable to read and learn. All I’ve done is mown the lawns, so I’m well and trully worn out. Enjoy tonight. Love from us both. Xxxx

Tracy Graham Excellent information: looks like another area to visit, for my bucket list. for next year.
