It's a chilly windy day in Sunny Wales and we're heading to Bristol airport to fly to Seville in Spain. It's our 25th Wedding Anniversary in a couple of days....all them years ago it was...... and what better way to celeberate than to head for some pucka Spanish Culture. This will be our first time to mainland Spain and we're looking forward to it, the pictures we've seen online look very good and we cant wait to see it first hand. First off we've got to get to Bristol and so let battle commence with the M4 Motorway.
The motorway proved to easy going until we got into Bristol, the football was about to start and so was a bit of a drag getting through the city, but once out, we were on our merry way. Parking was relatively easy and we then went through the rigamarole of "Checking in" or whatever that is these days.....the technology changes every fortnight and so you dont know what to expect. Once that was done we headed through security and all the fun that entails. I got swabbed for drugs - I think the customs boys have been watching too many of those "Anything to declare" tv shows and have decided to spice up their jobs by treating everyone as if they are a Columbian Drug Lord. With this excitement over it was time to head for the bar and for me to throw some beer down my Gregory in the time allotted.
It was quite windy out there, but that went in our favour as the SleazyJet plane managed to make up about half an hour and we got to Seville at 8.10 pm. There was a distinct lack of our old friends The Heavily Tattooed Bellowing Apes on this flight. I'd even go so far as to say everyone was pretty civilised, which makes a change.
Jayne had arranged a car & driver, we'd been sent a picture of the driver and told it was a black mercedes car. He wasnt there but a chap who looked like Big Chief Sitting Bull told us that he was our driver and that the car had miraculously changed into a Toyota Carolla. Actually the driver bloke was a nice guy, he was from Ecuador and got us into town quite sharpish.
First impressions are that Seville is a big city...well the suburbs went on and on...we slung the bags in the hotel and headed out into the city proper. It's fantastic, if you like Architecture you'll love Seville. Big open squares allow for everyone to roam around and everyone is out taking in the evening atmosphere. There are all ages having a stroll and getting tapas, booze, etc. It's certainly a people watching type of city this one. There's some great bars dotted around, we first have some tapas, vino and then head to a lively bar down the road. The bar sells every kind of beer from around the world and Scottish readers will be pleased to know that you could even get a pint of "The Big Juicy" in there. We like what we've seen here so far and look forward to exploring some more tomorrow.
Many Thanks for our Anniversary wishes.
Adiós por ahora
