The next morning dawned grey and miserable, and it had rained overnight - the first rain we had seen for weeks. We moved on to Green Head, the next small town. South of Carnarvon is the Shark Bay area, comprising Denham and Monkey Mia. We had done this area in some detail last time, so decided to skip it. Carnarvon's major claim to fame is its One Mile Jetty which was built in the early 1900s to ship out wool and other products. It had a train running down the length of the jetty and into town. This ceased operating many years ago, but until recently they had a small brightly decorated engine making the journey, taking children and holiday makers to the end of the jetty.
