Whoop whoop off to Warner Brothers movie world. I have been looking forward to doing a theme park that Aaron hasn't done! Ok, I know a lot of you are going to think I am a sado for going alone, but it doesn't bother me at all. No one telling me what to do, where to go. No one nagging at me, and the best bit I could leave when I wanted, once I was finished. I had already got my ticket from reception and I was told I can get the public bus TX2 straight to the theme park. I was at the park for opening, it looked good, I could see all the roller coasters from the entrance. The park seem full of kids, I'm not sure if it's school holidays out here. I started my day by going on the batwing spaceshot free fall tower! It was one that shoots you upwards not drops you down. The park was starting the get busy, so I decided to get the big roller coasters out the way first. Superman escape was first on my list. I has a money bet on, with money etc, and my camera in my pocket. I tried to hide it, but the staff at the entrance of the ride caught me, so I had to place it all my stuff in a locker. Costing $2 for an hour. It's a good way of the theme park to make money. It only took about 20 minutes to get on the ride. The theme of the ride was like riding the MRT and there is an earthquake then superman comes to the rescue to push the MRT train out of the subway. Shooting out about 60 miles an hour around the track. It was good, a better version than Rita the queen of speed! As I still had time in the locker, I ran around and did it again, riding at the back was better. I was a bit pissed off they don't have single rider lines. The first theme park I go to alone and no single riders!
The next ride I did was Arkham Asylum. I didn't really expect anything amazing, but actually it was really good, the harness was really different to any other ride I'd been in before but I was really impressed. I don't do a special scientific score rating like Az - I either love, like or hate a ride! This one I liked a lot. I was starting to get hungry, I just got a snack, a cookie and a bottle of drink. Before watching the wild west show, it was a little tacky, but the kids that were around seemed to love it. Then within the main movie world street they had a show going on, I couldn't see much, but Batman arrived in his wicked car from the movie and rescued the girl and saved the day. It was good, but the guy acting as Batman looked a lot like the guy that I've just seen in the wild west show. The green lantern ride was next, this was my longest waiting time, 30 minutes. there were some really great parts, but I knew if Az was with me "The theme park geek" he would be saying they could do a lot more with it! I guess I would have to agree this time.
Lunch time, as normal theme park food is really expensive, I ended up getting a beer and nachos from the Dirty Harry bar. It was ok, just god damn expensive. Like everything else in Australia - I would say stuff back home is cheaper than Australia. After lunch I went and watched the Hollywood stunt show, it was amazing. If you had loads of money you could actually be in one of the stunt cars during the performance! Then I watched the 4D ice age show "Dawn of the dinosaur" I enjoyed it because it was something new. I had finally find everything I wanted to do, something's twice. I decided to have a walk around the shop before leaving. I walked to the TX2 bus stop and had to wait about 20 minutes before it arrived. I could just about keep my eyes open, I didn't really remember which stop I had to get off at, so I was glad when I heard the driver sat "Surfers Paradise!"
Tonight they were doing an all you can eat BBQ, which included burgers, sausages, bread and some salad. For only $5 you can't really go wrong. It was good food, but it wasn't long before I was full. I was causally talking to some of the people, chatting away about travels, and experiences! When the topic of Whitsunday's came up. These 3 Irish girls were going to do the same "Pride of Airlie" that I had been on. I just said my trip way amazing with them, Jade, Eugene, the 7 Irish girls and Norway. As soon as I said that... The 3 from the hostel were like "There're our girls...!" it's such a small world. The drinking games started and ring of fire was picked. There must have been about 18+ people playing this game, it took a while but it was good. All the guys from my room were playing and the Irish girls! I was on the beer only, as last time I drank goon it ended badly. We left the hostel and about 30 of us walked to a club in the town. While in the line to get in, we got sniffed by drug dogs, they also had a camera man with them. So I might be on some cop programme in Australia. Because we came with the hostel we go free entry and a free drink. The music was pretty good, and it was a wicked night. Me Jason and Andy had a beer mat flipping competition. I won, flipping 20 beer mats! Jason got kicked out for taking all the beer mats off the bar, but managed to get back in 10 minutes later. The song of the night seemed to be "Call me maybe!". It was about 2am when we left, some people got food.. (I didn't fancy Hungry Jacks, so I didn't have anything!). Walked back to the hostel we all checked out the girls appartment that was located down the road from the main hostel. I can't really remember why, but everyone started singing their national anthems. French, German, Irish, then it was my go. Being the only guy from England, I passed as wasn't going to sing! Lol. It was a really good night.
