Today was an early start. Jade our guide was taking us up to the observation platform at the top of South Molle Island. The alarm was sent for 6:30 and breakfast was at 7. After all the beer last night, I was feeling top of my game! Breakfast was the same yesterday. Once we were done, we got ready to walk 30 minutes to the view point. I even timed it on the trusted Sainsbury's watch! (The best item I've ever got in Sainsbury's!). The walk was easier than Townsville but because of that walk I had blisters, thank god my mum gave me plasters before I left! It was still really wet underfoot because of the dew. It was that early. Everyone did the walk and I think enjoyed it. The views at the top looked out over all the other islands at the national parks. I managed to get some great photos. We then turned around and headed back to the resort.
It was fish feeding time! At the end of the pier we used food to feed these massive fish, I can't remember the name of them but they looked cool. I didn't bother getting my swimming and snorkelling gear on, I just thought I would watch. When I saw other people start to get in the water I was a bit jealous so ran back to my room to get my stuff! (being careful not to tread on the dead parrot that was laying on the pier! Yuk). Got kitted up, and into the water with a handful of food. I started to swim after the fish, the water wasn't very clear, but people on the pier were telling me where to swim. At one point I was swimming head on to one of these fish. As we got close we must have both been scared as we both moved off in different directions! Stein managed to get some good photos of me from above. I left the water, the view from above was better, but I am glad I went in.
It was now time to check out the resort, the receptionist guy was an American and so annoying, when you would walk past he would be like "Hello there Friend!" We had half an hour to kill before our early lunch at 11 o'clock. I just sat in the sun, enjoying the quiet and the amazing view. Lunch was cold meet, salad and pasta. We then made our way to the boat for our trip back to Airlie Beach and the mainland. Once onboard I laid on the front of the boat, as we set off the sail was pulled putting me in the shadows. I had to get up and I laid on the roof where I was in the warm sun again. With the heat, breeze from the sea, the music from the cabin I feel asleep. I was asleep the whole journey back. Our captain (I can't remember his name, so I'm going to call him Capt. Jack) woke us to say we were nearly back If we wanted a group photo! I think the picture must have been taken 10 times with different camera! It was time to say goodbye, but we would all be meeting up for dinner and drinks later at the beaches bar. (Which was part of my hostel!! Result!)
I walked to my hostel along the broad walk checked in and got my main luggage bag back. I hate it when you arrive in a hostel dorm and you don't know which is the empty bed, because peoples crap is laying all over the place. I waited a little while before someone comes and moves his stuff. I headed straight out, found a barbers! Finally getting my hair cut. She didn't stop talking! She was banging on about women wanting their hair to be my colour... She said that my hair was a 8-3?? Not really sure what she was talking about then she explained 8 on the blond scale, and 3 on the copper. (Ginger then!). Then she guessed my age as 28-30! Erm NO! Lol. Anyway she did a good job. I then went shopping. Everyone keeps telling me how cold it will be in the south. So I've now brought trousers, a jumper and a coat! All for 50 bucks. (£35 ish!). I headed back to the hostel, showered and done my washing! Every exciting stuff, but these things need to be done. It was then time to meet up with the gang from the Pride of Airlie.
Everyone meet up between 6:30 and 7. The bar was really cool, and we all put in our order for food. The food was really good, I had Chicken Parma! The drinks were flowing all night, starting on the beer. We spent a few hours in this bar, and we were all messing about having a right laugh. It ended up being me, the 7 Irish girls + 1 girl from the states, and the Norway duo, oh and scott that had meet the girls on another trip. In the beaches bar there was live music, a guy singing some really good songs that I've missed from back home. I can honestly say that everyone was pretty merry by now.
Later on the crew all joined us, Capt. Jack, Jade and Eugene Oh before I forget I need to saying something about the crew member Eugene. He must have been the hardest worker onboard, always happy, chatted to everyone..! The nicest guys. Ok, for the people that know my brother Iain he was like an Australian version of him! Everyone's friend even though a bit shy! But the only difference he smoked and drank! A lot! Jade walked in with some friends, one had an abnormally LARGE hand, it was massive. Everyone clocked it. fair play to him as he was waving it about at everyone and holding his pint glass in it (That now looked like a shot glass!) it did freak me out a little bit. But he didn't seem to care!
We left the beaches bar after the happy hour finished, and walked up the strip to Phenix. It was very quiet, but when we entered it filled it up a bit. When ordering drinks you get given a raffle ticket, then at midnight they do a draw, with the chance of winning $700! We started drinking sprits, southern comfort lemponade! God I've missed this drink. Everyone started playing the Peg drinking game! Someone is in control of the peg, and had to attach it to someone else, clothing, hair, shoes. Then they start shouting 10, 9, 8, 7... 2, 1. In this time people search themselves to see of the peg is on them. If its found the pegger drinks, if not the pegged drinks! It was so good! I was pretty drunk by now, and was going to the toilet once per drink! Me and Kim were having some banter about her hair, maybe I said something bad about it, then spent the next hour trying to dig myself out of a hole! Lol... Anyway, I ended up saying if I win the raffle I'll split the winnings.! We were friends again after that. Except I didn't win the money, so I got here a drink! There was a drink called the red headed slut! Lol, so me and Laura had a picture with the sigh, however the group decided I was auburn, because I was so tanned I can't be ginger!!! :-)
We left Phenix after midnight and headed to the girls hostel. Base was located at the top of the high street. The girls had what looked like a bottle of water that they said was vodka. I didn't believe then, well I didn't until I took a massive mouthful. Yuk! Lol. When at the hostel we started to drink wine from a box! Everyone was messing about it was really amazing night, and I was smashed. There are some crazy photos of tonight, that I'll post when I'm home. It must have been two o'clock + and I had that feeling that I needed my bed. Said goodbye to everyone and headed to my hostel. I had remembered everything up until this point. Then ???? I know my Ma (jokes!) won't be impressed about this bit, but I don't remember walking home, don't remember getting into the hostel, my room, or my bed!! After drinking, cider, beer, vodka, wine, southern comfort... Tomorrow isn't going to be a good day.
Also want to thank everyone for the best night I've had in Austalia so far! It was amazing...!
