I didn't sleep great, as I was trying to pinpoint the last time I saw my camera, and I was working myself up. I managed to get some sleep. Breakfast was at 8, and I was woken up by Paul knocking on our room. Stein answers and he is retuning my camera!! This is the guy that handed me my key. He went on to say he thought it was his girlfriends purse.?? Not sure what's that's about as it bloody looks like a camera. Anyway. I had it back that's all that matters. I will go back to putting it on one of my belt loops. (I was starting to think that Debbie had nicked it!)
Breakfast was cereal and egg in toast, we had a bit of time as the boat wasn't leaving until 9. Packed my day bag, which included my stinger suit, mask and snorkel. It took about 90 minutes to sail to our snorkelling location at dumbbell island. It was a really great place, the fish were all massive, much bigger than ones I've seen before. The water was a little cloudy, but you could still see all the bright coral. You should have seen what I looked like in this stinger suit. Everyone was given the same size suits. Medium! Everyone else was smaller than me, but was told they go on height. It was skintight!! It seemed ok when I was leaning down, but as soon as I stood up straight, it all pulled! Ha ha. At least my time would be spent in the water. Once we left the water, we had lunch (Very Spicy Rice!) and headed to the next place on our trip. Whitsunday Island! Enjoying the sun!
Our big sailing boat pulled up about 200 meters from the shore. We then had to use the small speed boat to take us the rest of the way. Whitsunday island was located near lots of other islands that made up a national marine park. Once we were all on the island we walked up to the viewing platform. It was high over the Whitsunday beach, it was the best view. Looking down on the perfect white sand, multicoloured blue water. I think this is my favourite beach now steeling the title from Koh Tao in Thailand. After taking loads of photos of the beach it was time to go down there! Saw a massive lizard sunning himself on the way down. Whitsunday beach = Paradise! Amazing soft white sand, that was so fine. Cool blue water, with small rippling waves. Views over to other islands and the jungle we have just walked through. I was to put a tent on the beach and never leave.
The sand was being used as an exfoliate by all the girls, and I rubbed the dead skin off my feet. Some of the girls even rubbed the sand into their teeth. It's been known to help whiten them. I couldn't get my head around putting sand in my mouth. Chilling on the beach, we took loads of photos. I used Jade's camera. She's our crew member and they had an SLR. Took some amazing photos of the group jumping on the beach!! We even managed to do a pyramid. Of course I was on the bottom! The time went by so quickly. And before we had time to play any games it was time to return to our boat. We had about 2 hours to travel back to South Molle Island. It was nice to watch the sunset, have a sleep, and drink my beers that I still had onboard! The sun shining, the wind in my hair!! Lol (in fact, I really need to get it cut again!).
When walking to dinner you could see all the stars, there was no clouds and without the light pollution you could see everything so clearly. It was amazing,I did take a picture but it just ended up as a black screen. I have to be honest, I wasn't looking forward to tonight theme... "Karaoke Night"... I did explain to everyone that if I sang, everyone would leave the island! Dinner was nice, it was like a thai green curry! Then the fun started. I did try to get out of it, but I ended up sing in some group songs. Blink182 - All the small things
Queen - We are the champions
The Norwegians wanted me to sing a Aqua song, but I didn't know it, so skipped that one! However the Irish girls were kind enough to put my name down with Kim to sing "Funky Town!" I am sure that it must have been awful. I really do hate karaoke, but I sort of missed the karaoke nights back home. It's not the same without Lisa belting out a few sings and Aaron's Memphis song. In fact I still hate Karaoke... Maybe it because it's drummed into me, that I am so bad! The beer was flowing all night, and at about midnight I head back to bed. (my camera still connect to my shorts!). Some of the guys at the bar were buying the group beers... Not sure if it was because he liked the singing or thought we would be better if we were more drunk!
