I was up at 5 oclock this morning, a taxi was picking me up at 6, to get the 6:20 bus to Airlie Beach. It was pitch black, and when I got to the bus station the sun started to show in the distance lighting up the sky. The bus journey went quite quick, and I just slept most of the way. Today I was starting my Koala Adventure sail and stay tour. We were meeting at the marina for about 2 o'clock. I had enough time to go to my hostel that I would be retuning to on Friday, and leave most of my stuff there. Only taking what I needed on the boat. It was hot today, with blue skies. I was at the meeting point early, but was happy to relax in the sun, with an ice cream.
The boat that we were on was called the pride of Airlie. In total there was 16 of us plus 3 crew. We boarded, and waited around for Debbie, that never arrived. The name Debbie became a bit of a joke for the rest of the time. Debbie getting the blame for everything. The journey was about 90 minutes to South Molle Island, which was the location of the resort I would be staying in. It was still sunny, but the wind made it feel cold on the boat. That didn't stop me sitting out on the deck! Me sitting there in shorts and vest, everyone else with hoodies and coats. Cracked open a couple if my VB beers! It was nice to be on the boat, drinking ice cold beers.
Once we all arrived at the resort, we checked in and went to our rooms, I'm sharing with Linn, Rebecca. Stein! It was a nice room that looked over the golf course. On check in we were all given 3 different coloured bags, this was for "plastic fantastic night!" we all had to come up with a costume that we would wear to dinner and the bar tonight. I picked green, orange and yellow. We had about an hour before dinner, and I went down to the pool for a quick swim... The reason it was quick was because the water was bloody freezing. It took my breath away when I jumped in, I was told this was the best thing to do by the two girls that had already entered into the ice cold water. I went to have a hot shower to warm up, then had time to work on my master piece.
It took about 20 minutes, but I had turned the yellow bag into a pair of shorts, the green plastic bag, was turned into a vest top, putting my arms through the handles. The orange was turned into a bandana.! I looked super cool. I then used the off cuts of other colours to make fish for my vest. I also put GAZ on the back to make it look like a football shirt! Plus it would help everyone as we only meet today. (Everyone knew my name by the end of the night!) Walking down to dinner, everyone looked like they had put a lot of effort in to their outfits. Dinner was spaghetti with tomato sauce and salad. Then it was time we had all been waiting for. Judging time for our outfits. There were 2 groups that were taking part in the competition. In total 20 people thought they had a chance at winning, the crowed would cheer for the ones they liked the most. After the first round all that was left was me, a trio that turned their outfits into Teletubbies, and another guy from our group that had a plastic bag on his head that he could inflate with is snorkel. Sadly I came 3rd, and wasn't going to win anything. But because the organiser thought I put in a lot of work in, and she liked mine the most, I got a free shot of black sambucca!! Yummy!
I took off my outfit and tied my top onto the stage railings. Then we started on the beer, between the 4 of us doing round we managed to drink 8 pitchers! Party games started, including limbo (I won for our team!) bid up, the hand tapping game! It was a really good night. This German girl started to talk a load of bullocks, and really started to annoy me, so I went and sat up the other end of the table. Leaving my camera there. (Big mistake).
The night was coming to an end, I walked up to the table where my camera and room key was. It wasn't there... I asked around and everyone had seen it there during the night but didn't know where it had gone... I was not impressed. There was only about 30 of us on the island, I asked everyone including the bar staff, and it sounds like it just dissapered into thin air. I started to get pissed off, and maybe over reacted a bit.. Everyone just told me to wait until morning, someone must have picked it up. I agreed, pissed off I left it in the first place, and annoyed its got loads of photos on it, and it was a present. Anyway, I then headed back to my room with the hump.
On my way I walked past a couple that was travelling with us, I asked again if they had seen my camera? They hadn't, but they said they found a key for room 426... That's my room key. But it was linked onto my camera case. So someone has taken it off. This pissed me off even more. I went to bed.. Crossing everything that my camera would be retuned tomorrow.
