Sawadee Kaa from Chiang Mai!!
Well the VIP bus was not so much VIP! We did not get so much sleep as it was bumpy and the driver was caning it down the roads! we also had some irritating brazilians that got drunk and decided to shout all night long and annoy everyone!! We did however pass the time with the bus stewardess or should i say steward! Our first close encounter with a thai lady boy!! It was hilarious, i took a picture for pinch even though it is slightly blurry! She was wearing trousers to start with and then when we got on the bus she changed into a mini skirt with a huge slit up the front and glittery leggings! You have never seen anything quite like it especially when the bus driver nearlly left her at a petrol station and she looked like the characters out of white chicks trying to catch us up!
So anyway we arrived in Chiang Mai early at around 5.30 which was strange as in Bangkok everything would ahve been open but not here! We went and waited in a restaurant until we could grab some brekkie! It is noticeably more religious up here as the monks walk the streets in the morning and chant at people as they pray etc.
We havent done anything today as Kates has been unwell due to the malaria tablets but tomorrow we have organised a day trip to the jungle for Elephant riding, trekking, waterfall swimming and visiting a hilltribe! We also visit an orchid farm - Granma!! Anyway thats all really we have a nice double room with ensuite at JJ's guesthouse which has only cost 350baht for the night which is about 7pounds! Bargain!
Oh and i got a few conditional offers from Uni, one of them being southampton so I am a happy bunny!! :D

Fiona I don't intend to hog the blog every day, but just want to pass on a tip about the malaria tabs - if it is doxycycline that you are taking make sure that you never take it on an empty stomach, or lie down afterwards. Some people on our trip were tossing them down anywhere any time, but I was very ill on the one occasion I took mine without having food beforehand. Everyone's different - there are some malaria meds that can make some people hallucinate!! Remember that the tabs only protect you from malaria, so really cover up if you are so "delicious", as dengue fever can be just as unpleasant - another thing the glossy brochures don't tell you!!
