Adventures of Gamblegirl: Why are things so difficult?!?!
Honestly!!! Grrr. Have to talk about the saga that's going on with my lost specs. It's all fun and games - yeah right!!!
First of all have to talk about the eye examination that I had on Sunday:
A) Can't believe that in a place like Chester there is an Optologist open let alone a spec shop
B) Can't believe that can get replacement glasses in an afternoon, let alone an hour!!!
C) How high tech is getting glasses these days????
Honestly, they do all these eye scan, eye health checks, how lazy or sharp your eye is at focussing (for the record, mine's crap. It's very slow to focus. Hmmm explains why I can't read road signs until I am practically on them. It takes my eye that long to focus on it) and all these other tests for your eyes. Holy moley. For those that have glasses like moi, whatever happened to the days where you just kept reading that chart until you can see and read no more!!!! It's all a bit high tech for this girl.
And then there was the test to see the distance between my pupils. Apparently that's so to focus the glasses on my face. Jeez, just give me the frames and lenses and I'll be right!!! Honestly am a simple girl at the end of the day (no... don't add your own insult there!)
But my biggest grief is trying to claim back my lost property. So far I've lost my sunnies (okay not a big deal if don't claim back), had my mobile stolen (not worth claiming back from insurance but as was in the property of the cloakroom of the club, they are paying out lost property damages) and now my specs. This I will definitely pursue claiming back because they cost heaps to replace. So when claiming back for lost specs, what would you think that they would come under? Medical perhaps? Buzz - wrong. It's luggage. That's right luggage.
Now I don't know about anyone else but when I think of specs, I don't think luggage. When - after I managed to regain my ability to speak - I asked why this is, the gent over the phone told me because well, it's because they are considered to be an option. An option of what? Too see or not to see? "How very Shakespearean of them," I dryly returned. So what are my options because I need to claim this back. Well apparently I can claim back the cost of my old glasses but not the replacement ones. BUT if I have a receipt for my glasses. WHAT?!?! Seeing that they are what 3 years old and out of warranty, I don't have that. So somehow I have to prove that I was wearing glasses. Now I am no genius. I am middle road intelligence ie don't need someone to help tie my shoelaces, but even I can think of one way to prove that I wear glasses other then a receipt. It's called a photo. Yes, the gent agrees as it dawns on him, I guess that's one way of proof. Idiot man - grrr.
So now I have the saga of claiming this back. Insurance - can I sue them for fraud because seriously, I paid for this and I have the right to make a claim out of my paid for insurance. And now to do so, it's like I can't do it. Isn't that fraud? Grrr
