I did end up going to the movies in Santiago. Thoroughly enjoyed sitting down in the cinema with my popcorn and soda and watching 'Australia'. Could have been anywhere in the world. That night finished packing and went out for a very quick bite for dinner before trying to sleep, which really didn't happen. Too much noise from the outside road.
Had a 6am departure and so we said our goodbyes to Aoife who has left the tour and started to meet the new people that have now joined us for the next leg. Found out that one of the couples on our trip who had finished in Santiago had been robbed at knife point the day before. They had $1600 stolen. They were trying to get the money for their local payment for the next trip they were starting. Luckily they were OK. Have to be careful everywhere.
Into Pucon and set up camp. Quiet night for me. Spent the next day not doing much but relaxing. Went into town with Paddy Ross and we booked a tour the next day to some hot springs. Wandered around town and then headed back to the campsite to try and get an afternoon nap in. Felt good.
The next day Ross and I walked into town to get our lift out to the hot springs. There are quite a few resorts around that offer day passes to use the hot springs which are heated by the nearby active Villarrica Volcano which some people had climbed the day before. I had thought about it, but once I heard you were given an axe pick, I decided it really wasn't for me!!
The hot springs we chose were just lovely. 3 different pools of varying degrees, the hottest being 40 degrees celsius which was perfect for me. I was straight there and into the water. Had just over an hour soaking before we had a lovely lunch and then I had booked a massage aswell which included some reflexology and a facial mud mask. Day of being spoilt for me - have to do it occasionally. Back into the water for the last hour before unfortunately having to get out and catch our lift back into town. Worth every penny and made sure to tell everyone back at camp what they missed out on.
