This weekend we went to Chiang Mai!! After all getting ready in our room on friday we were nicely dressed in our hippy/bright coloured clothes to get our song taew!! we then got a mini bus from the resort to the city!! we had a great time on the bus with ballons, music, buiscuits and mars bars from fang!! Kew came with us as our little tour guide!! We arrived and discovered we were sleeping in a hugo dorm of 8 which was great fun!! we went out to dinner in a restaurant in the market and then on to Bubbles a night club!! It was weirdly clean and everyone had great time on the dance floor although the music was slightly bizarre!! the only good song was requested by us...... the rest was psyco-trance.......??! after leaving we went to a karioke bar and sang along to some classic tunes before and susie was extatic to find southern comfort!! we then headed home via mcdonalds where bridie nearly threw away the key!!

saturday didn't go as we'd planned as simon didn't get up on time!! however we went to see an umbrella factory which was nice and got some personal belongings painted!! including dumbo on susies retro phone!! we then headed on to a gem fatory which was slightly odd and were followed litterally everywere!! and we tried on some very fetching but slightly too expensive for our backpacker budgets jewelry!! in the afternoon we went to the main temple where we climbied 306 steps to the temples at the top!! they were beautiful and there was an incredible view from the top!! we then headed out to the night market and purchased many things bartering very well!! it was huge so we only made a dent in it!! we then went to an irish pub to watch the england rugby match and to meet up with Brian from the resort!! Fran then went with Martha to meet some of the others at a rooftop bar which turned out to be quite far away!! After some scary kisses being blown from the lady boys we arrived and had a drink 4 floors up on the roof!! It was decorated with lanturns and was seated around the tables on the floor!! We took a tuk tuk back which was slightly scary as we were all squeezed in one which made us nearly fall out as we went around the corners!!

On sunday we got up much earlier to go to the flower festival which luckily was on at the same time we were there!! There was a really long street full of market stalls with huge flower floats down the middle!! there were however quite a few wasps!! we then climbed a little hill to the city walls and got back in the bus!! We then went to see a very bizarre mini flower world...... we went in a tram around the world and saw the likes of superman, china, a temple, gardens, stone people, a huge zapper, a hellipad....... it was quite the bizarre experience....!! and not really that many flowers!! but was very funny!! after lunch we went to the burried village where there were a huge number of rewined temples which had been erroded away by a flood!! we went around in a horse and cart which was lovely!! there were about 6 different carriages all in a line!! after taking lots of pics we headed to the sunday market were we shopped more and then as we were very tired went to starbucks which was very exciting!! after a very sucessful day we headed back to the resort to get our song taew home!! we arrived back at 11pm not in time to do our lesson plans!!
