Next up on my list of things to do in Oz was go to the Whitsunday Islands. Everyone who I'd spoken to told me to go here so I booked a package in Sydney and by luck, so had everyone on my Fraser Island group. After a bloody long 9 hour overnight ride to get to Airlie Beach, had a day of recovery before we started the trip. To say 3 days is a lie, as you dont leave until the late afternoon on the first day anyway, but when we found out that there was 64 of us on a catamaran you kinda know its gonna be a good laugh, and a very drunken good laugh it was. It took us two hours to get to the resort but we it had a good cheap bar and we had lots of goon so it was a win win situation. If you come here and dont drink, your on the wrong boat.
The next very hungover day we all boarded the boat like lost souls, and getting sea sick whilst hungover at 8 in the morning is not pleasant, but it was certainly a first. We hit Whitehaven beach, the most purest sand in the world (ooouuuuu intresting I know). I'd done something I'd wanted to do as a kid though and dived of the boat and swam to shore - well its not like you can do that at Whitby is it. It was just a long chillout day followed by another good drinking session at night. The next day we attempted snorkelling but the water was to dark and you struggled to see much of anything. I was too cool for sunscrean and as a result of my arogance burnt my back. Suppose it serves me right.
It was definately a great trip to do but didn't come close to Fraser one bit. Still I can say I've got drunk with 64 other people on a catamaran in the middle of knowhere.
