We left Wanaka about midday, and headed for Queenstown. Once we got just outside Queenstown we stopped at the bungy site, which was the first ever bungy. Saw a few people jump, didnt seem that high to me but it was far too cold to do it! (Thats my excuse anyway!) So yes by now it wasnt just chilly it was cold being in the south. We also stopped in Arrowtown which is a small gold mining town which is still working and looks original.. it was really cute and pretty with frost on the ground. We found an amazing sweetshop and bought some lemon merangue and triple chocolate fudge and al bought some bon bons! We had some lunch in ben and then carried onto Queenstown. More snow seemed to be on the ground as we were getting closer, but it was a beautifully clear day so we decided to head for the Gondola.. on the way to finding the Gondola we came accross a campsite so we checked in first and booked 5 nights, it was right next to the bottom of the Gondola.. we managed to get 10% off which was good. Amazing view of Queenstown from the top of the Gondola, it got dark while we were enjoying out mulled wine and baileys hot choc (how civilised!) so we got to see the view in darkness too which was really cool. Following day we had a famous Ferhburger for dinner and yes they are amazing! Huge though, we just went for the classic, so yum! Alice managed to squeeze in another yes another skydive! She loved the first one so much there was no stopping her so on the Saturday we headed out to the skydive site and off she went, judging by her reactions i really should do a 2nd one.. if only money wasnt an object! Maybe in Australia... Had a few drinks in cool bar called the Buffalo bar with Liz and Max who we actually met on the Franz glacier hike and were now in the same campsiite!
Following day it was chucking it down so after a chilled morning we went to play indoor mini golf! It is the best mini gold ive ever seen! 18 holes and theyre all little models of parts of Queenstown, good way to spend a couple of hours anyway! Then it was my birthday! Al had put a HB banner up in the van and blew up some balloons! so sweet of her. We had bacon sandwiches for breakie, yum, spoke to mum etc on skype which was nice and then we went out to do the Nevis Arc! A giant swing that is suspended 120m in the air and lets you fly 70m down into the valley before curving letting you swing for about 3 minutes! It was so funny, Alice was unusually petrified! She was really scared which made it easier for me as i was just laughing at her. We ended up buying the DVD just to watch als face and hear her scream aaaall the way!! So much fun! After that adrenalin rush we went to some private hot pools, it was so nice. On the mountain side and you could lift up the side and roof the the room so you were literally in a hot pool on the side of the mountain! We had it for an hour, so relaxing. That night we went out for some cocktails with Liz and Max to the World Bar and had a apparently famous cocktails in a teapot, was interesting! Then we headed for a steak for dinner, was really nice and we had a lovely evening. The following day we were leaving Queenstown. Awesome town and had a great birthday!
