Picton seemed like a nice coastal town, but it was throwing it down with rain! We arrived about 6pm so we just stayed the night in a cute little campsite, had a walk around when the rain had stopped and then moved on. Although on the way from Kaikoura to Picton we went past so many wineries. We stopped at the Montana one and did a wine tour. This was cool, pretty informative and we got to see the huge vat things/ grape squashers! And best of all we got to do some tasting!
From Picton we headed to Abel Tasman National Park. We stayed in Kaiteriteri which is the closed you can stay to the start of the park. It was a very quiet campsite with only us and two other vans! We planned to stay two nights and go on a boat trip the next day. This was cool, the rain held off and it was sunny, the coastline is amazing, some unusual rock form, seals and forests which we did a walk through.
Cooked some pasta in Ben (yes we named him) and had a beer outside, leaving the next day for Punakaiki...
