Our first full day in Broken Hill has been busy, interesting and insightful! We started with a visit to the mine memorial which is a beautiful tribute to miners who have passed away from as early as the 1800's to as recently as 2007. There were loads of old machinery that the boys enjoyed playing on. As it was quite warm we made our next stop a 1950's style milkbar and museum where we had delicious milkshakes and soda spiders! Yesterday we left Dubbo and followed the sun directly west along the Mitchell then Barrier Highway for 500kms!!. We were amazed at the constantly straight road and the endless flat plains, although they were surprisingly scrubby. The space and vastness is incredible, I can only imagine what it will be like up the centre! We saw our first wild emus and goats and quite a few wedge-tailed eagles. Today the Foley Five spent a glorious day at Dubbo Zoo and it has gone down in our history books as one of the top 5 most awesome days ever!!! I am so proud of the boys, it was a huge day and they were perfect. We hired bikes from here at the caravan park and rode 3kms on a bike track along the river out to the zoo. After quite a few busy days we finally hit the road! We had a fantastic drive across to Dubbo, playing the usual games of Spotto, Eye-spy and a new one for us, Windmills! We got 2 Km's out of Scone before we had the first "how much further is it" from Lachie and Will is amazed that "we are actually on the trip!". Jack is just taking it all quietly in his stride. We will spend the next two nights here in Dubbo visiting the zoo. Til next time...
