I can't believe it has only been a week today that we left Scone! It feels like a month! We have well and truly settled into caravaning life.
We spent yesterday in a practically abandoned town, Silverton, just out of Broken Hill. It used to be a booming mining town in the 1800's before Broken Hill was settled. We visited the old gaol which is now a comprehensive and interesting museum. One thing of interest we learned was that the lady on the $10 note was an assistant teacher at the Silverton school. After a walk around the town we enjoyed a cool drink at the Silverton pub which was an awesome spot. We also went to see the Mundi Mundi plain, further on from Silverton, which literally took our breath away. It is an open flat plain stretching as far as the eye can see to the south, west and north. It was apparently once an ocean floor! Amazing!
Today we backtracked a little south, an hour and a half drive to Menindee lakes. We are staying a few days in a glorious spot called Copi Hollow. We spent the afternoon swimming and fishing. Will as usual, the only successful fisherman! We look forward to the next couple of days doing much of the same!
Til next time...
