Our first full day in Broken Hill has been busy, interesting and insightful! We started with a visit to the mine memorial which is a beautiful tribute to miners who have passed away from as early as the 1800's to as recently as 2007. There were loads of old machinery that the boys enjoyed playing on. As it was quite warm we made our next stop a 1950's style milkbar and museum where we had delicious milkshakes and soda spiders! After lunch and a rest we headed out of town to do a stunning desert walk and view the "Living Desert Sculptures". They are large sandstone sculptures atop a hill overlooking Broken Hill. It was a beautiful spot, made even more gorgeous as the sun set, turning all the sculptures a rusty orange. Tomorrow, another day exploring Silverton ouside of Broken Hill.
