My Big Adventure
So today we got up and dressed and headed out to the Whistlestop Cafe for a full English big breakfast! After totally filling up on breakfast we jumped in the car and headed to Mareeba! When we arrived at Mareeba we went to the Coffee Works where we sampled tea, coffee and chocolates. Not being a great coffee lover I decided to take full advantage of the chocolate tasting!! (I think I got my money's worth) but I also felt that I should try some coffee and tea. The tea I could cope with, the coffee not so much. From here we headed to the coffee museum where we saw lots of different coffee and tea pots and machines. We found out who won the tea-pot pageant (I am not kidding). Then we headed back for a little bit more tea and chocolate sampling before heading through the shop and onto our next stop - Mareeba. It was the local market in Mareeba today and somehow mum managed to sweet talk one of the market sellers into giving us some free rambutans. So we looked around the market, Lucy bought a scarf and then we looked around the Mareeba museum. The museum was set up as old fashioned scenes including the pub, house, train, ambulance and jail. So we looked around as mum reminisced about when she grew up! We then jumped in the car and headed to Tolga. On the way we stopped off at the Peanut place to buy some genuine Australian peanuts. When we arrived at Tolga we visited a woodwork gallery and had a yummy lunch. We then jumped back in the car and drove to Yungaburra stopping to see the Curtain Fig Tree on the way. When we got back to our motel we went for a wander around Yungaburra and had a look around the shops. We then headed down to see if the platypus were out but they were not! We then had a little chill before heading out to dinner. Tonight we went to Nick's for a yummy dinner and then a quick drink in the pub before heading back to the hotel to get ready for another day tomorrow.
